Switch Gear is tested under load for function and operation.  Western States also conducts infrared testing of connections to identify hot spots that could fail under high temperature conditions and result in catastrophic failure.  Switch Gear maintenance and inspections are a sound investment at a fraction of the cost of the switchgear itself.  And although most tests can be completed in short period of time, they can result in big savings when catching hidden problems.
