BACKPACKS FOR THE COMMUNITY

After a successful store-wide school supply drive, members of the Meridian Branch Leadership Team stuffed and donated backpacks to students in need.

The Meridian team partnered with the local Salvation Army to help provide school supplies to children in the community. After receiving an email from the BLT with an Amazon wish list of needed supplies, employees at the Meridian store brought in pencils, markers, glue sticks, notebooks and more to fill new backpacks in time for the new school year.

“For the Meridian BLT, we focus our efforts toward specific causes every quarter.  This quarter our attention was focused on the children in our community,” said Financial Services Manager Jennifer Krasselt, “With kids headed back to school, the Salvation Army provided an amazing opportunity to support those kids that need it the most.”

The original goal was to donate 40 backpacks with school supplies. After the outpouring of support for the school supply drive, the Meridian team was able to stuff more than 160 backpacks with classroom essentials.

“Children are the lifeblood of our community,” Jennifer said, “To see a smile on a kid’s face and to know that you helped put it there always makes the effort more than worth it.”
