In the spirit of community support and meaningful collaboration, the Western States Rental team recently partnered with Mini Joys to restore their beloved backyard—a vital space for connecting children and families with therapy mini-horses. After a late February flood damaged the Mini Joys‘ backyard, the team needed help to prepare their space for spring events. This project, fueled by dedication and teamwork, was a labor of love that ensured Mini Joys’ outdoor sanctuary remained accessible and welcoming for all.

The Power of Partnership: Mini Joys, Western States and Idaho Flatworks and Grading

The collaboration between Mini Joys and Western States Cat has deep roots. For years, Western States has provided support through sponsorship, volunteer crews, and community initiatives.  A crucial partner in the effort to restore the backyard was Idaho Flatworks and Grading, led by contractor Cole Piedt. Their expertise and commitment to the project played a pivotal role in making the restoration a success.

Bringing the Space Back to Life

Owner Laurie Bell reached out, and The Cat Rental Store stepped in to help. The team generously donated equipment and volunteered to help work on repairs. Their contributions saved Mini Joys considerable costs—funds that could be redirected to their valuable programs for children.

Moments That Made a Difference

Although the restoration process was straightforward, the most touching moment came from seeing the joy on the faces of those who call Mini Joys home. Watching their vision come to life and knowing the space was once again accessible made the hard work worthwhile.

The Impact & Looking Ahead

Beyond the restoration itself, the project reinforced Mini Joys’ mission of creating a warm, accessible space for children and families. Picnic areas have been smoothed, paths are accessible, and plants will soon transform the backyard back into a vibrant haven. With programs running almost year-round, Mini Joys continues to enrich lives and collaborate with local schools to provide meaningful experiences for children.
