WHY BUY USED EQUIPMENT?
Used Equipment vs. New Equipment
If you are in the market for buying construction equipment, you’re probably wondering if you should buy used equipment or new equipment. We want to share four reasons to consider buying used equipment as you search for the best machine for your operation.
- Avoid Depreciation – Heavy equipment depreciates quickly.
When buying used equipment, the previous owner took the hit on deprecation so as the second owner the brunt of that deprecation is not as large of an issue. - Purchase Price – Used equipment often comes at a cheaper price point than buying a new machine. This can be an especially good option for customers looking to buy their first piece of equipment, or new businesses just getting started. The lower purchase price helps lower your operating cost, so you’ll be saving money all around.
- Ability to Pick and Choose – There are some machines from Cat and other brands that are no longer sold new. As a customer you have the choice to buy your preferred machine even if it’s no longer offered new by the manufacturer.
- Insurance Costs – The lowered valued assets are cheaper to insure than brand new machines.
