WESTERN STATES TECH ACADEMY: KICK START A CAREER

If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to become a diesel technician — or how to break into the industry without prior experience — the Western States Cat Tech Academy was built for you. This 10‑month program gives students the skills, confidence, and real‑world training they need to launch a rewarding career in a field that’s always in demand.

And the best part? You don’t need a background in heavy equipment or diesel engines to get started. Just curiosity, commitment and a desire to build something real.

A Fast, Focused Path Into the Trades

The Western States Tech Academy is designed for people who want a clear, structured path into a skilled career — without spending years in school. Over the course of 10 months, students move through:

  • 8 months of classroom and hands‑on instruction, learning directly from industry experts.
  • A 2‑month paid internship, where students apply their training in a real shop environment and gain the experience needed to step into an apprentice technician role.

This blend of education and on‑the‑job learning helps students build confidence quickly while earning a paycheck before they even graduate.

Tools, Training, and Support

One of the biggest barriers to entering the trades is the upfront cost of tools and gear. Western States removes that barrier entirely.

Students receive:

  • All tools needed during the program
  • Uniforms and coveralls
  • Required PPE (with the exception of safety boots)

That means students can focus on learning, not on buying equipment.

What Students Can Expect to Learn

Throughout the program, students build foundational skills in:

  • Diesel engine systems
  • Hydraulics
  • Electrical diagnostics
  • Powertrain components
  • Safety and shop procedures
  • Real‑world troubleshooting

By the time they reach their internship, they’re ready to contribute on day one.
